Zero probability

Zero probability

Here is another one about probabilities and one about hyperparameter tuning.
One of the things that I love about machine learning is the infinite possibilities to learn new things. Every door you open leads to a different and fascinating universe.
You don’t need it all to succeed, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.
Stay curious!

Live session!
Next Friday, I’ll host a Twitter Space with 50 attendees.
Tickets are on sale now. $2.99.
You’ll get to listen to me ramble about how you can build a career in Machine Learning. You will be able to ask questions.
If you want to participate, click on the tweet below from your phone. You should see a button to purchase a ticket.
Next Friday, 50 tickets. I’ll help you getting started.
A contradiction that you weren't expecting
Can an event which probability of happening is 0 still happen?
It turns out that the answer is yes. Not only that, but zero probability events happen all the time!
Imagine I tell you this:

"The probability of a particular event happening is zero."

Contrary to what you may think, this doesn't mean that this event is impossible. In other words, events with 0 probability could still happen!

This seems contradictory. What's going on here?
Hyperparameter tuning
If you have no idea what a “hyperparameter” is, this introduction is for you.
At the same time, this will help you understand how to optimize a particular machine learning model to get better results on a particular problem.
Machine learning models can be extremely powerful.

But there's a catch: they are notoriously hard to optimize for any given problem. There are just too many variables that we could change.

Thread: On keeping your sanity when training a model.
